Costume & Make-Up Inspiration
Why Is Costume & Make-Up So Important In Movie Production?
- Make up & costume are part of the 'mise en scene' or the aspects of movies that form the composition of the shot. Make up & costumes are an extremely important aspect of that because they help establish the film's overall look, which in term contributes to the mood & tone the filmmmakers hope to establish.
- Besides contributing to the pure look of the piece, makeup and costumes can add thematic contributions--sometimes very subtle--which can help convey the film's overall vision. Semantic signs convey details about the character (a slob in a dirty shirt, for example), establish the plausibility of a fantastic universe (such as aliens in outer space) or provide thematic undercurrents that enhance and accentuate the drama.

Special Effects Make Up
The Use Of Special Effects Make Up
Special Effetcs Make Up
THE USE OF SPECIAL EFFECTS TECHNIQUES ENHANCING PHSYICAL FEATURES TO EXHIBIT METAPHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS AS WELL AS FANTASY MAKE UP
tHE USE OF PROSTHETICS AND PLASTER CASTING ARE ALSO REQUIRED FOR PROJECTS THAT ENAILS NON-HUMAN APPEARANCES. ACCENTS SUCH AS THEATRICAL BLOOD AND OOZE ARE ALSO TECHNIQUES APPLICABLE TO THIS TYPE OF MAKE UP
one of the hardest parts of prosthetic make up is keeping the edges as thin as possible. they should be tissue thin so they are easy to blend and cover giving a flawless look.
Theatrical blood or stage blood is anything used as a substitute for blood in a theatrical or cinematic performance. for example, in the special effects industry, when a director needs to stimulate an actor being cut or shot. the most common is red food colouring, often inside small balloons coupled with explosive devices called squibs.
tHERE ARE OBVIOUSLY MANY REASONS FOR SUBSTITUTING REAL BLOOD IN THE FILM INDUSTRY, SUCH AS ETHICAL & SANITARY CONCERNS, AND CONCERNS FOR THE EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING OF THE ACTORS.
ALSO, ACTUAL BLOOD'S TENDENCY TO COAGULATE AND SOLIDIFY QUICKLY MAKE IT UNSUITABLE FOR REPEATED TAKES WITHOUT REFRESHING ; THE LONGER-LASTING VISCOSITY OF STAGE BLOOD MAKES IT FAR EASIER TO WORK WITH ON SET.

Characters Planned Costumes
Here are the outfits that we initially plan to use for the main actors who play roles in the film. as you can see the three main characters names are above their planned outfit/outfits. The reason for planning what costumes the characters are going to wear is so that in a sense we are able to match each characters personality & characteristics to their outfits. Costume is essential in film planning as it adds to the main effect(s) the director is trying to achieve
This is the make up look that we're using for Demi and Jodie in their normal/day to day clothing.
